The Sons of Iraq recruits training on AK-47s at Combat Outpost War Eagle. The Sons of Iraq program is a key security program that military planners hope will replace the 30,000 additional troops surged into Baghdad last year. The premise behind the Sons of Iraq is simple: local guards securing their community until they can be screened and hired to be Iraqi police.
